Kay Sage

Surrealist of severe architectural landscapes under enormous empty skies.

  • Serene
  • Monumental
  • Abstract Geometrics

Fun fact

She kept exhibiting anonymously for a while so critics would judge the work rather than her marriage to fellow Surrealist Yves Tanguy.

How she made it

Precise Surrealist oil built with ruler-straight architectural perspective, smoothly graded skies airbrush-flat in handling, and scaffolds and drapery rendered in cool greys with almost no visible brushmark.
