Fun fact
Her 1843 album of British algae is widely considered the first book ever illustrated with photographs.
How she made it
Cyanotype photograms: paper brushed with iron salts, a specimen laid directly on it, exposed to sunlight and washed in plain water. No camera, no negative, the plant prints itself as a white silhouette in Prussian blue.
