Fun fact
She was one of only two women among the 34 founding members of Britain's Royal Academy, the next woman was elected 154 years later.
How she made it
Neoclassical oil built from chalk figure studies, laid in with a warm imprimatura and finished in smooth, cool half-tones. For interiors she painted on canvas roundels designed to be set into ceilings and overdoors.
